These shoes are a great fit for someone who needs a safety toe but prefers something a bit lighter than a full blown work boot. They're pretty flexible, so if you're kneeling a lot, this won't kill your toes TOO bad whereas a steel toe work boot is pretty rough on my toes when I'm kneeling. The soles are pretty well cushioned, and feel kind of springy when they're brand new.That being said, if the job I'm doing is a bit dirtier, or there's a lot of standing water, I prefer an over the ankle boot to give me a bit more protection. Also, if you climb ladders constantly I wouldn't recommend this shoe as there's no groove to catch the rungs of the ladder which makes me a bit nervous, especially in a slippery environment.
